The Liberty Training Rifle
Project Appleseed is a program that teaches marksmanship. When the ammo shortages first hit around 2008, .22 LR was still available, but centerfire was not. So a set of modifications was devised that would take some of the most common .22 rifles on the market and turn them into rifles better suited for marksmanship training.
The Ruger 10/22 Carbine is one of the most popular rifles on the market, along with the Marlin Model 60 and the M&P 15-22. We build ours on the 10/22 platform.
First you take a new 10/22 Carbine. Remove the factory sights and add Tech Sights.
Install sling swivels studs, detachable swivels and a USGI M1 Garand type sling.
Add extended mag release (not needed if you have the polymer trigger group 10/22)
Replace bolt release and hammer with Volquartsen parts (or rework existing ones; we sell Volquartsen parts or will modify yours).
